1. A typhoon is coming

Send it a day or two ahead, as soon as PAGASA puts your area in the forecast track.

Hi [Guest name]! A quick heads-up: PAGASA expects [typhoon name] to bring strong rain and wind to [city or area] around [day].

Your booking is not affected, but please plan for it:
• Keep your phones and power banks charged.
• There's a flashlight at [where] and drinking water at [where].
• Bring in anything from the balcony and keep the windows closed.
• If you're thinking of changing your dates, message me here and we'll look at the options through Airbnb.

Stay safe, and I'll keep you posted.

Tips

  • Send it before guests notice. A message that comes first reads as care; one that comes after a complaint reads as an excuse.
  • Keep a flashlight, a power bank and a few bottles of water in the unit, and say where they are.
  • Use Airbnb chat for these messages, so there's a record if dates or refunds come up later. Changes to a booking go through Airbnb.
  • Check official sources (PAGASA, your city's disaster office, the water and power company) before you send, and don't guess times you don't know.

Tell every guest at once.

On a GoTuloy page, the advisory banner puts the typhoon, brownout or water notice at the top for everyone who opens it, with an end date. No republishing needed.
